Current President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) also acknowledged during her inaugural speech "the historical facts of the 1992 talks," but reiterated that she would not allow Beijing`s position to dominate. On May 28, 2008, WU Po-hsiung Hu Jintao, chairman of the KMT, met in Beijing as general secretary of the Communist Party of China, at the invitation of the CCP, for internal dialogue. During the meeting, the parties said the two sides set aside disputes across the Strait and work for a win-win situation based on the 1992 consensus. In addition to the party-to-party channel, the semi-state dialogue channel via SEF and ARATS is expected to reopen in June 2008 on the basis of the 1992 consensus, with the first meeting taking place in Beijing. The first priority of the SEF-ARATS meeting will be the establishment of the three routes, especially directly between mainland China and Taiwan. . . .
